A fabulous award-winning biography that conveys the story of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Bonhoeffer, a German theologian was living in New York in 1939 but returned to Germany and worked to dismantle the Third Reich from inside Germany. The Nazi’s hung him on April 9, 1945. A German doctor who witnessed his execution said he climbed the steps of the gallows “brave and composed”. The doctor went on to say: “In almost fifty years that I worked as a doctor, I have hardly ever seen a man die so entirely submissive to the will of God.”
